Website Comments

panamaquono — Mon, 01/25/2010 - 11:35

Hey folks! I had to undo the commenting for this website, now when you register I'll require a confirmation email and admin approval. Before I had it setup so anyone could login and post comments, but a clever group of individuals was spamming my site, I have a bunch of stuff to block them but I never set it up because I didn't expect to get this stuff, and it doesn't matter too much since I basically redesign my site every two months or so. I am happy to report that I've actually kept my drupal site up and running long enough to get spammed.

Getting a Website: Step 1 - Gather Intel.

panamaquono — Mon, 11/23/2009 - 16:44

When you decide to "Get a Website" for your company, it is a good day. The process can be extremely frustrating though for both you and your designer. Here's a suggested first step to help you work with a web designer to build a website and get the job done.

1. Gather Intelligence

Moved Theme to Garland

panamaquono — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 19:37

As you may have already noticed, I've changed my theme to garland, this is in preparation for the next big theme jump to something really optimized for mobile devices. I have a bunch of PDF's and stuff I use for reference that I've collected over the years that I like to have handy and I think by building my own website for that express purpose I might actually have something useful.

Drupal usage progress report

panamaquono — Thu, 11/05/2009 - 16:17

Drupal is great, there's a learning curve though, and unless you can afford to pay for it, there's not a lot of help out there. A few things that I don't think are being said I'm going to mention right now in hopes that some expert will toss me a link or something - "it's more complicated" (expletive deleted) to do anything drupal related on IIS servers.

Font Manager that works with Adobe CS4

panamaquono — Fri, 10/30/2009 - 09:42

I have been a happy user of LinoType's FontExplorer X since Adobe CS1. I used it in place of the built in mac font program because at one point I had about 10,000 fonts - I needed a font program that didn't activate every font, only the one's I wanted on, and as an added bonus FontExplorer has plug-ins that work with adobe's creative suite to activate fonts used in documents that I open when I have the font but don't have it activated. What else is cool?

panamaquono — Mon, 10/26/2009 - 10:48

(I guess the results have been in for a while I was only holding out for more)

Email Campaign Results

  • 14.95% Opened the email
  • 6.25% Clicked a link
  • 4.21% Unsubscribed

Very interesting, I'll have to update this post with averages from other sites.

Tutorials Now Available at panamaquono.com

panamaquono — Tue, 10/20/2009 - 16:48

Hey Everyone, if you're reading this it's possible you got an email from me announcing how I've been trying to collect stories of online experiences from visitors. My hope is that I can write a couple relevant tutorials but what happens is I answer questions too specifically, and then one solution doesn't always apply to all questions.

panamaquono — Tue, 10/13/2009 - 09:33

If you have just un-boxed a fresh new PC or Mac that you've bought because you wanted to see about making money on that there interwebs?, here's where to start: http://w3schools.com/web/default.asp - this is a good place to start if you've never done anything on the computer or online before. Some things you'll need to know how to do in case you're thinking ahead will include: How to make a folder, How to open a text editor, how to save and rename files... that's it, but, some people don't even know how to do that.
